Dervish – Predator [Open World]

Dervish 21 – Predator 18 – Maelstrom 0

[Not a High End Raiding Soul]

This role was originally touted as a one button for all situations Primalist role. Since its conception there have been buff adjustments and other observations about this. endgame. This is not a premium soul to be used in Raids, however it functions perfectly well for open world and low man content.

The Build and Smart Choices

This role is one that many of the high end raiders do not like with some good reason. These reasons however can be unjustified when this is used as it should be and is not used in raids.

It provides a very simple way to play a build and provide decent damage with a high percentage of it being ranged. In order for it to achieve its highest damage numbers you must be in melee range. With one change to the above mastery abilities the build in open worlds gains incredible survivabilty.

This build has  high spike damage depending on when the Avatar is used. It is for this reason that it actually can be used in some limited group content like Tartaric Depths (Easy Mode Only). Please do not ever use this in Intrepid Rise of the Phoenix or Bastion of Steel.

The Soul Build Pros and Cons of This Build

Dervish 21 – Predator 18 – Maelstrom – 0 at Magelo
Each Point Increases damage done by 1%

This build takes the bare minimum points in Dervish to obtain the Avatar which is where the high spike damage comes from. To accompany this Predator uses its highest damage abilities, of which Blindside will be one of the most effective yet as a short range. Maelstrom rounds this off, like almost every single other Primalist build with a Scald legendary.

Pros and Cons of an Dervish-Predator

  • Great Burst DPS on opening, one of top for prim
  • Over half are ranged abilities, great for disconnects
  • Good sustained DPS Easy Two button Rotation
  • Great for open world just mowing down random mobs
  • DPS drops substantially after start
  • Blindside requires you to be in melee

  • Using Squall inappropriately will anger many tanks

Dervish-Predator Overview

This build is one of the simplest there possibly is to play for Primalist. There are two buffs, and literally only two buttons to hit.

  • Scald x 2
    • This should be refreshed before falling off
  • Spam Macro
  • Squall can be added in when appropriate. Take note pulling a mob from a tank is never a good thing.

That’s all there is to it. Make sure to lead with Scald, as its two stacks will give you a 30% damage bonus to our other abilities. If you let Scald fall off its going to cost you two casts to get it back up, so get used to it (Scald is so common in Primalist specs you are probably used to this already). If you are doing more than open world fighting , get in melee range if at all possible, Rift isn’t near as bad these days as it was when many of the fights required ranged, so do not  complain you cannot do this. By getting in melee you will be able to use Blindside, which is a great high hitting ability.
